Network

Network connectivity makes hosted systems function; without it, even for a few minutes, client hardware, software and applications reduce return on investment. Using BGP4 multi-homed networks in each of our datacentre locations, backed with a private, dedicated fibre circuit interconnecting sites, we offer the resilience and levels of capacity required to run todays’ high-value E-Business sites.

Dual resilient circuits to client equipment, separate backup networks for  data backups as well as management out-of-band circuits are all provisioned to the highest engineering standards to ensure constant connectivity with 24x7 monitoring and alarming on network performance as a standard feature. MRTG graphs are provided to clients to enable them to monitor their own usage on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis which can assist in capacity planning and troubleshooting.

Clients have the ability to monitor bandwidth usage and elect to be capped if necessary although the flexible nature of our contract and the 95thpercentile billing model provide the necessary information to allow proper management to maximise full business and commercial benefit. Clients are not locked into fixed bandwidth contracts and can  change up or down subject to some conditions. A benefit of our network provision is in offering clients the capacity to burst up to twice their contracted bandwidth rate.

Packet loss is measured on our local network and on our immediate downstream suppliers’ networks. Where the loss is measured to be above 1% remedial action will be undertaken by EQSN engineers. Although we cannot control traffic on the general Internet we will work alongside clients to troubleshoot wider issues where possible, examining latency, round trip times, dropped packets etc.
