Backups & Disaster Recovery

The integrity and security of information is paramount, it relies on robust systems and defined, tested backup procedures to ensure data is available when required. Media handling, backup schemes, archive requirements, disaster recovery planning/testing and data integrity checking are all part of the services we provide.

Backups and D.R. operations are carried out using industry standard Symantec Veritas products. Backups can be to the EQSN central device or to your own hosted solution, with media being changed and stored as required. A backup network will be provided where possible in order to prevent backup traffic interfering with routine operations. Where possible full backups will be taken in preference to incremental to ensure simple and speedy D.R. recovery procedures. On a nightly backup to our central device we retain a copy for 24 hours on disk to assist with prompt recovery if required.

Backups are routinely checked to confirm integrity of data and warnings are raised in the event of unexpected issues with recurring problems being dealt with in liaison with the client.

Disaster Recovery plans can be agreed with clients to rebuild systems from bare-metal situations. These are documented procedures retained along with all the necessary media, convenient for a rebuild should it be necessary. More elaborate D.R. plans involving failover machines, alternative datacentres and live replication can all be catered for.
