By creating a service, based on proven procedures which have already been experienced locally in the UK, clients have the confidence to implement growth plans that involve moving to the US. We have created an extension to our portfolio that provides all the familiar Service Level Agreements, managed services and technical professionalism in Boston that we have become known for in the UK.

So, what did we set out to do?

• Creation of a suitable resilient network to ensure clients receive the capacities as well as the robust reliability and security already offered in the UK.
• Locate a suitable hosting location that provided the engineering quality necessary to satisfy our high standards.
• Design procedures that enabled our clients to be as comfortable with their systems overseas as they were with those sitting locally, interacting with them as freely as they do with systems in our other datacentres.

Having a physical presence closer to your target demographic is seen as an advantage, where potentially shorter routes to customers may enhance the user experience. Dealing with suppliers that are operating on the same time zone can be an advantage; we deliver the type of customer experience you expect. The contractual basis between us and our clients locating in the US is consistent; we provide the same terms and conditions, resources and resolution capabilities as in the UK. The certification for security contained within our UK offering (ISO 27001:2005) is translated through to the US equivalent (SAS70) and forms the basis of our service management to you. The need to host certain data in a particular geography to satisfy local and federal laws no longer requires you to engage with overseas providers, we cover that obstacle.

The Boston datacentre has the features you and we would expect from a high quality facility; 24x7x365 manned security and operation, recorded CCTV, swipe pass and chaperoned visits are standard. Access controls match or exceed those currently used in our UK facilities. We have connections to redundant internet feeds and a transatlantic link to our UK facilities. Racks are provided with dual power connections from diverse feeds, battery backup and diesel generator backed emergency facilities with automatic failover. Fire suppression is an early warning fire detection system with a multiple zone dry-pipe pre-action fire suppression system while there is a zoned N+1 environmental design to control the ambient conditions of the equipment space.
